The reason Police don't matter 日曜の朝、明治通りを南に

今朝は9時まで職場に拘束されていましたので、日曜日の朝にBromptonで帰宅と相成りました。

都内の道路はどこも空いていて非常に快適です。途中、池袋警察署の近くで火災騒動を見かけ、新宿から渋谷までは全力で疾走できるほど路が空いていて、表参道を越えたあたりで赤いベンツと自転車の接触事故を見かけ、WINS渋谷に向かうオケラ街道を眺め、いつものように広尾病院、プラチナ通りを上って帰宅しました。

距離にして18キロなので、いつもより2キロ近く長いのですが、時間は1時間02分とベストタイムとほぼ変わらず、いかに信号に止められず快適に走れたかが分かります。

表参道の接触事故は、恐らく接触後数分経過した時点で見かけたものと思われ、初老の女性が運転する外車から降りてきて、ひしゃげたタイヤの自転車ちかくに佇む若者と話をしていました。幸い、男性に怪我がないようでした。

そのすぐ先の赤信号で引っかかったので青信号を待っていると、私のすぐ脇にパトカーが止まりました。間違いなくこのパトカーも現場を確認しているはずなのですが、このパトカーが現場に止まっていた形跡がなく、

「ここから100mほど手前で自転車と車の接触事後がありましたよ。」
と口頭で伝えると、
「はぁ。」
という気のない返事。なお対応しないので
「確認しないのですか？」
とダメを押すと、
「行きますから！」
と苛ついた口調でサイレンをならしUターンして現場に戻っていきました。

日本の警察は自転車が交通法規を守らなくとも注意しません。しかし、自転車の事故にも決して関心を持ちません。警察にとって自動車ほど旨みのない自転車にはあまり関わりを持ちたくないものなのかも知れません。

Since I had on duty until 9 am this morning, I came home with my Brompton this morning.  It is very good for cyclists to go out in Sunday morning.  Although the distance I cycled today was 10% longer, it took me 1 hour and 2 minutes, which is about the best time.

On the way home, I saw a red Mecedez parked on the street with the hazard lamps lighted and a bicycle with bended wheels and bended frame.  It was obvious that the car and the bike had a contact.  Fortunately, the rider was standing by himself.

I passed by them and stopped at the next traffic light which is about 100 meters from them.  Soon after I stopped there, one police car stopped besides me.  It is also obvious that these gentlemen in the car also recognized the car and the bike.  So I told them
"I have seen an accident of a car and a bike and it was 100 meter from here."
And they replied
"Oh, yeah?"
but did not exhibit interest to that.  They did not even pretend to talk through the radio and they just tried to close the power window to stop conversation with me.  So I said
"Don't you go and examine the accident site?"
The guy finally said
"We are going, OK?"
and turned the siren on and headed to the location.

I assume that Japanese police do not care about bicycles because they can not obtain any rights or interests associated with bicycle industries or consumers.  Therefore bicycle accidents were no longer considered as their matters.
