To prevent traffic accidents, 交通事故を防ぐために

　
　平成23年度、都内では38名が、全国では628名が自転車事故でお亡くなりになっています。お亡くなりになった方々のご冥福をお祈りします。

　いくら気をつけていても防ぎきれない事故もあります。

　でも、より多くの人、自転車運転者だけでなく自動車運転者を含めて、より多くの人が、道路上にリスクがあることをより明確に認識し、常に注意を払い続ければ、防ぐことが出来る事故も少なくないはずです。私に出来ることは、そのくらいしかありません。「常に危険を意識する」ことを自分だけでなく家族や仲間に伝え続け、疲れているときも忘れないように心がけていきたいと思っています。

I am deeply sorry for those casualty and their family. It would have been the most difficult time for them to accept the fact and to step forward to the reality.

All I can do is to pay attention to the risk of traffic accidents all the time and to make all efforts to prevent traffic accidents.  Of course, I will make my children to do as I do. It would be lovely if more and more people share this policy, not only bicycle riders but also all the drivers.
