Commuting with Brompton in Tokyo Brompton

As you might know, commuting trains or subways in Tokyo are very crowded with some exceptions.  Generally speaking, trains toward Central Tokyo are unbelievably crowded whereas Trains from Tokyo towards suburban areas are not necessarily crowded and some of them carry only a few people in each car.

Fortunately, the overground trains I usually take are not very crowded and being in the train is tolerable for me even during rush hours.  What I meant to say tolerable is that I can read newspaper during the journey.  Or I can say that I can find the place for my Brompton easily.

There is another route to go to my office, by taking underground trains.  Usually there are more people in underground trains "Nan-boku line" or "Toei Mita line".  It is better than the worst but is hard to find the space for my Brompton in most cases.  And It is somewhat annoying for neighbours to place my Brompton on the floor.

If I take the trains running towards opposite direction from mine,  you will not get in the trains unless you have certain skills to do so.  You will not find  a space for your foot, and you'd better forget about your Brompton.

  1. Rush hour traffic --- I haven't been on public transportation during rush hour in a long time. I believe I was in Canada, when I did that the last time.

I have not taken my Brompton, Brahma, on the train/bus yet, but it is only a matter of time, I suppose!

    Have a Great Weekend!

    Peace :)

  2. Hello, Chandra. I assume there are similar problems in UK when British people commute with Bromptons. And I just wanted to mention that not all the people in Tokyo can carry their Bromptons on their way to work. And if someone planning to travel Japan with one's own Brompton I would like to recommend him/her to consider this problem.
